Document repository
Storage in a clearly structured, project-specific tree. Attributes for extended directory information and keyword search.
Plans, documents, workflows - one source of truth for every party.
DOC.project is the web-based Project Communication System (PCS) for construction and infrastructure. Plan management with revision control, document workflows, a granular roles and permissions model - in productive use since 2001. More than EUR 15 billion of construction volume delivered with it to date.
DOC.project is the central hub (Common Data Environment, CDE) for your construction project. Every plan, document and workflow is held in an audit-proof single source of truth - browser-based and instantly available to owners, planners, general contractors, specialist designers and subcontractors. The result: less search time, no double-handling, far less plan chaos on site. We have grown the platform with users for users since 2001.
Storage in a clearly structured, project-specific tree. Attributes for extended directory information and keyword search.
All revisions (indices) of a document bundled into a single node. Automatic versioning by the system, access to earlier planning states at any time - continuous history.
Manage text, graphic and data attachments. Link main and secondary documents (e.g. PDF with CAD file) - every attachment bound to its specific revision.
No full deletion of documents (view filter). Move to recycle bin with restore option.
Transfer any number of documents in one step with monitored, error-free data transfer. Duplicate detection, automatic storage type and plan-code sorting.
Comprehensive search across attributes, descriptions and full text (including text content inside CAD files). Save individual queries, multi-download from results, previews. In the integrated viewer you mark up documents and add graphic and text annotations.
Closed messaging with guaranteed delivery confirmation. Instant delivery without transfer delays, individual distribution lists, project-wide address book, SMS/e-mail notification.
External project participants without a login are pulled into the workflow via an e-mail download link. The download is logged in the system - inbox size limits are elegantly bypassed.
An extended workflow engine monitors and steers routine tasks - seamlessly integrated with the messaging system, the document repository and the process module. Workflows are configured per client and map established company processes. There is no graphical drag-and-drop editor.
Connection to the digital construction diary - for operational site management.
Digital release stamp for execution plans (plot for the site), including allocation of a unique plan ID. Full traceability of which version was used on site.
At project end DOC.project provides the entire data set - including workflows, revision metadata and audit logs - in an offline structure that you can keep using in your own network, independent of the platform being in operation.
DOC.project runs as a central web application. Every party connects through the browser - with controlled access, a documented history and defined workflows. The platform handles open formats such as PDF, DWG, DXF and DGN and ships with an integrated viewer: mark up documents and add graphic and text annotations - right in the browser, no local CAD licence required.
Whether owner, planner, general contractor, subcontractor or expert assessor - everyone works off the same data. Through interfaces we connect DOC.project to your existing IT landscape - backed by extensive integration experience.
DOC.project was not designed on a whiteboard - it was hardened in real construction projects: transport infrastructure, real estate portfolios, industrial and high-rise builds. Lessons from hundreds of projects are baked into the product, from the smallest detail (plan stamps) to strategic features (audit trail).
Every file version is retained in full. Earlier planning stages remain accessible at any time - with a complete history.
A tamper-proof audit trail of every transaction. Who did what, when? Admissible in court. The logs are delivered as part of the archive.
Configurable down to field level. Every role sees exactly what it needs - nothing more, nothing less.
No install, no CAD licence per workstation. Stakeholders are productive from day one.
Hosted in Germany, regularly audited by DEKRA. On request: on-premise in the owner's data centre or private cloud.
Connection to your existing systems via bespoke connectors - backed by extensive integration experience.
Productive since 2001, more than EUR 15 bn construction volume delivered. No start-up risk - just proven German engineering.
Create the project, define plan classes, workflows and roles - usually inside five working days. We bring templates from more than 200 prior projects.
A pilot phase with the core stakeholders: planner, general contractor, owner. We sit alongside the first plan runs and tune workflows.
Step-by-step activation of every party - with online training, a quick-start guide and a dedicated hotline for the first eight weeks.
Hands-on support from real people, regular releases, expert sparring partners. SLA available on demand.
"When we chose the project communication system for the construction of the A 20 Coastal Motorway, DOCby.net came out as the best-suited bidder, thanks to the strongest value for money. The collaboration with DOCby.net worked well over many years."

Translated from the German original."Unlike other project communication systems, where even getting access is often awkward, DOC.project models workflows and approval processes far better. That is a clear advantage and a real strength of the system."
Translated from the German original."The DOC.project platform made plan exchange dramatically easier. Every project owner had instant access to the important information. The dedication of the DOCby.net team contributed substantially to the success of the project."
Translated from the German original."The DOC.project project platform is very well structured; the project tree can be shaped freely, and even after the fact the system is so flexible that external folders can be integrated without a problem. Adding revisions works very well."

Translated from the German original."Using the DOC.project project communication system enables faster, more efficient communication between project participants and makes documentation considerably easier."
Translated from the German original.A Project Communication System (PCS) is a Common Data Environment (CDE) for construction projects: plan management, revision control, workflows and a granular permission model across many different companies. A classic DMS manages documents generically - a PCS understands plan revisions, owners, planners, subcontractors, plan runs and formal acceptance procedures. For a clean delimitation see our PCS checklist.
We offer transparent tiered pricing by number of project users and storage. Three packages are available (PROJECT, TEAM, ENTERPRISE) - details on Pricing 2026. For very large endeavours we agree pricing individually; that is the rule from 50 users upwards.
By default in our ISO 27001-certified data centre in Germany. On request we run DOC.project on-premise in your data centre or as private cloud - including SLA, backup and disaster recovery.
DOC.project can be connected to your existing systems via connectors. We build the integration to fit your IT landscape and bring extensive integration experience to the job.
No. DOC.project uses an extended workflow engine; workflows are configured per client and map your established processes. DOC.project does not offer a drag-and-drop editor.
Long-term archiving provides all data including workflows, revision metadata and logs in an offline structure. You can deploy and use this structure in your own network - without the platform in operation.
